VR is the largest business brokerage company with 125 offices located around the globe. VR was established in 1979 and I joined the VR network of business sale offices in 2010 and became the first VR office in Canada.

Business Focus: I focus my business practice on the sale of small and mid size privately held businesses. I work with clients throughout Alberta and since 2007 had sold about 40 businesses. I do not specialize in any particular industry. My commercial banking, accounting and business training has provided me with the ability to understand the various aspects of a business in order to present the business to prospective buyers. I sell businesses in the range of $300,000 to $20,000,000 in various sectors.

I also offer clients the opportunity to learn and understand how businesses are valued for the purposes of a sale. I have found throughout the years, most business owners have little knowledge of the value of their business. In most cases they have either under valued or over valued their business by 50%. As a result they end up getting frustrated for not being able to find a buyer for their business or have put too much money on the table. I find that theoretical methods of valuing a business by accountants and chartered valuators are great but often not practical to what the market is willing to pay for the business and what a bank is willing to finance for the business. For those reasons, I spend times educating business owners on the difference between valuation and price.  Plus VR has sold over 70,000 businesses over the years and I have an extensive database of businesses sold in North America which I am able to access to show business owners comparable businesses that were sold in their industry.
